Learn & Master Piano by Will Barrow was originally released in November of 2007. The legendary Legacy Learning Systems created the piano course. This is the same company that developed a highly successful guitar training course Learn & Master Guitar. I was already familiar with their guitar course and had really great expectations for their Learn and Master Piano course.

Upon reviewing the course I have to say that my expectations were not only met but exceeded.  The course was amazingly comprehensive and really fun to follow from beginning to end.

The course begins with a brief introduction by instructor Will Barrow. He goes over what will be needed for the course (basically just an 88 key piano or workstation) and discuses about how the course will move proceed.

The high quality of materials and production is obvious right from the beginning. Having taught piano, I was curious to see how they would produce the videos in a manner that the student can always see what keys or chords were being played. Legacy Learning Systems has done a exceeding good job with this. Whenever the instructor is playing the piano a virtual keyboard is projected on the screen above the normally shown camera angles of the keyboard. This feature is really great because not only is it easy to see what notes are being played but students will have the added benefit of seeing the actual names of the notes and the chords on the screen.

In addition to the visual help from the virtual keyboard +numerous hints are continually include to assist the student in remembering what has been taught . Mr. Barrow refers to these as "nuggets" and they appear wherever they apply to what is currently being taught. This 's really excellent way to get cross important details without having the student overwhelmed by too much information at once.

The course isn't really oriented for children but I think any young adult would be comfortable with this lesson series.  If you are looking for a course for children some of my other recommendations will be more applicable.

Learn & Master Piano isn't the cheapest course on the Internet but in my opinion it certainly is the very best . It is priced at $249. However, periodically, Legacy Learning Systems runs three day sales with substantial discounts. If price is a factor you may want to check from time to time for a sale.  I update this review almost daily and will notify you if there is a sale available.
